LG reviews security, orders stronger protection for migrant workers

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level security review meeting and directed Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to comprehensively review the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for the protection of labourers from outside Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special Director General (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani, Additional Director General of Police (CID) Nitish Kumar, Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department M. Raju, besides IGPs, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and other senior officials.
The Lieutenant Governor directed that employers must ensure all workers from other States and Union Territories are covered under insurance and that their details are registered with the local police and district authorities.
Calling for intensified efforts against terrorism, he directed the security agencies to conduct precise and high-impact anti-terror operations to neutralise terrorists and maintain peace across the Union Territory.
He also instructed the authorities to ensure dignified last rites for the victims of the recent Kulgam terror attack and provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families.
The meeting also reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra and discussed measures to further strengthen the security grid across Jammu and Kashmir.
