DLSA Srinagar settles 14 matrimonial cases in Special Lok Adalat

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 1: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar today organised a Special Lok Adalat for matrimonial cases in compliance with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the J&K Legal Services Authority to facilitate amicable settlement of family disputes.
The Special Lok Adalat was held under the guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Srinagar, Haq Nawaz Zargar, and under the overall supervision of Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
Two benches were constituted for the proceedings to facilitate the amicable disposal of cases.
The first bench was presided over by Principal Judge, Family Court Srinagar, Mehreen Mushtaq, with PT&E Magistrate Srinagar, Massarat Jabeen, serving as member.
The second bench was headed by 4th Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar, Preet Simran Kaur, with Municipal Magistrate Srinagar, Fida Hussain Nayak, as member.
A total of 85 matrimonial cases were taken up during the Special Lok Adalat, of which 14 were amicably settled, providing timely relief to the parties through an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
The initiative was aimed at promoting speedy, cost-effective and mutually acceptable resolution of matrimonial disputes while reducing the burden of pending litigation before the courts.
