MVD Rajouri issues 55 challans, seizes six vehicles in traffic enforcement drive

RAJOURI, AUGUST:The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Rajouri, intensified its enforcement against traffic violations by issuing 55 challans, seizing six vehicles, recommending suspension of five driving licences, and imposing fines totalling ₹1.11 lakh during a district-wide enforcement drive.
The special drive was conducted on the directions of higher authorities to ensure strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act and promote road safety. Led by ARTO Rajouri Ashiq Rafiq Malik, the enforcement covered Rajouri town, Potha, Dhandkote and adjoining areas.
During the operation, the enforcement team checked around 250 vehicles and initiated action against motorists found violating traffic rules.
On the day of the drive, officials issued 18 challans, imposed fines amounting to ₹42,000, seized three vehicles for serious violations and recommended the suspension of one driving licence.
Overall, the enforcement campaign resulted in 55 challans, fines totalling ₹1,11,600, seizure of six vehicles, and recommendation for suspension of five driving licences for offences warranting strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Ashiq Rafiq Malik said the department is committed to ensuring safer roads through sustained enforcement and stringent action against violators. He said such drives will continue regularly to deter traffic violations and promote responsible road use.
He appealed to motorists to carry valid vehicle documents, follow traffic rules, avoid overloading and overspeeding, and cooperate with enforcement teams in the interest of public safety.
The enforcement team included Motor Vehicle Inspector Lakhvinder Singh, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Nitin, and other officials of the Motor Vehicles Department, Rajouri.
