JSSC approves key academic initiatives, 3 MoUs at 2nd General Body Meeting

JAMMU, AUGUST 16: The Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex (JSSC) held its 2nd General Body Meeting at Ramada, Jammu, bringing together Principals and representatives of member schools to deliberate upon key academic, administrative and collaborative initiatives for the academic session.
The meeting was chaired by JSSC President Dr. Atul Hans.
The proceedings began with an opening address and introduction of new members by Joint Secretary Sanjeev Pradhan, who welcomed the Principals and delegates. Vice-President Rajeev Sharma briefed the General Body on upcoming major events and other Sahodaya activities, while Secretary Finance K.L. Dogra presented the financial position and audit details of the Complex.
Competition norms finalised
The General Body took several decisions aimed at streamlining the conduct of inter-school competitions.
It was decided that concerned schools would collect trophies, banners and certificates following competitions. Participation norms were also reinforced, with only one teacher attendant permitted for every 10 students.
The house further decided that any proposed change in an event would require a valid reason and prior approval of the President.
The overall trophy scoring system was finalised with 10 points for first position, seven points for second position and four points for third position. Each of the three consolation prizes will carry one point.
Guidelines concerning changes in participants were also approved. No participant change will be permitted during a competition, while a change may be considered up to 12 hours before commencement of an event with the approval of the Vice-President.
The General Body also decided that all competitions would have three main prizes and three consolation prizes. In case of last-minute entries, the host school will take the final decision and assume responsibility for the necessary arrangements.
Centres of Excellence approved
In a significant academic initiative, the General Body approved a proposal to designate selected member schools as Centres of Excellence for specific subjects for Board Classes.
The initiative aims to promote subject expertise, peer learning and academic support among member schools and provide students with enhanced access to academic resources and specialised guidance.
Three strategic collaborations approved
The meeting also approved three significant professional and educational collaborations with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Jammu Chapter; Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Jammu Chapter; and Blazing Tales Educational Newspaper.
The ICAI collaboration involves CA Amit Gupta, Chairman; CA Sanchit Aggarwal, Secretary; CA Gaurav Pargal, Immediate Past Chairman; and CA Ayush Sawhney, Executive Member.
The collaboration with ICSI was entered into with the Jammu Chapter of the institute, while the MoU with Blazing Tales was approved with Vikas Sharma, Editor and Founder.
The formal MoU and collaboration proceedings were conducted by JSSC President Dr. Atul Hans in the presence of members of the General Body.
The partnerships are expected to provide students and member schools with greater access to career guidance, professional exposure, educational resources and industry-academia linkages.
Two guiding committees constituted
The General Body also approved the formation of two Guiding Committees—Capacity Building Programme Committee and School Affiliation Assistance Committee.
The committees are intended to support professional development, institutional strengthening and handholding assistance for member schools.
The initiatives are aimed at enabling schools to strengthen their academic and administrative capacities while facilitating greater collaboration within the Sahodaya network.
Kaushal Bodh Mela approved
Several suggestions put forward by Principals were also considered and approved during the meeting.
The house approved the proposal to organise the Kaushal Bodh Mela, to be hosted by Jammu Sanskriti, Kathua. November 21, 2026 was proposed as the tentative date for the event.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by JSSC Vice-President Rajeev Sharma.
The General Body reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative leadership, academic excellence, professional partnerships and capacity building, with a focus on creating enhanced learning and development opportunities for students and educators across member schools.
