Academic Arrangement staff of GDC R S Pura demand equal pay

R S PURA, SEPTEMBER 22: The Academic Arrangement staff of Government Degree College (GDC), RS Pura, staged a symbolic protest on Tuesday, demanding equal pay for equal work and revision of their remuneration.

The protesting faculty members said they are currently receiving a consolidated remuneration of ₹28,000 per month and demanded that they be provided the UGC basic pay scale of ₹57,700, citing the teaching responsibilities and academic duties performed by them.

The faculty members expressed concern that the existing remuneration does not adequately reflect the nature and extent of their academic responsibilities. They urged the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and the concerned authorities to examine their demand and take appropriate measures.

During the protest, the staff collectively raised issues related to fair remuneration, dignity of work and equal pay for equal work, while reiterating their commitment to teaching and their responsibilities towards students.

The Academic Arrangement faculty appealed to the authorities to consider their demand sympathetically and work towards a fair and equitable remuneration structure for them.
