IDPS bags top honours in Inter-School English Debate Competition at APS Jammu Cantt

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11: International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Jammu bagged top honours while Jodhamal Public School and Model Academy secured second and third positions respectively in the Inter-School English Debate Competition hosted by Army Public School (APS) Jammu Cantt today under the aegis of Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex (JSSC).
The Consolation Prizes were secured by students of APS Damana, International Daily Rising School (IDRS) and RM Public School. A total of 33 schools participated in the competition which was centred on the thought-provoking topic, “Is Media Informing the Public or Manipulating Perception?”, encouraging young speakers to critically examine the role of media in shaping public opinion and influencing perceptions.
The event was attended by Priyanka Goswami as the Chief Guest, while Rajiv Sharma, Principal, J&K Police Public School and Vice-President, JSSC was the Guest of Honour.
The debate was adjudicated by Dr Shivani Suri, Associate Professor of English, Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur and Vikas Sharma, Journalist, Media Professional, Educationist and Social Impact Advocate.
The competition witnessed a cut-throat contest, with participants presenting compelling arguments and thought-provoking observations that challenged conventional perceptions. The young speakers displayed remarkable confidence, clarity, logic and eloquence, keeping the audience and judges engaged throughout the intense exchange of ideas.
Adding cultural vibrancy to the occasion was a graceful dance performance, beautifully reflecting the enthusiasm, energy and spirit of the event.
The competition provided students with a meaningful platform to engage in constructive discourse, strengthen their communication skills and emerge as confident and informed speakers.
