80th Independence Day celebrations evoke patriotic fervour across Samba District

SAMBA, AUGUST 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated across District Samba with patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and a strong sense of national pride, as people from different sections of society joined the celebrations to commemorate the nation’s journey and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
The day’s proceedings began with Mangal Dhwani, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the celebrations.
As part of the morning programme, Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan ceremonially hoisted the National Flag at the District Administrative Complex, Nandani Hills, Samba. The programme commenced with the National Song, followed by the flag hoisting and National Anthem in the presence of officers and officials of the district administration.
The main Independence Day function was subsequently organised at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium, Samba, where the Deputy Commissioner hoisted the National Flag and took the salute from the ceremonial parade.
SSP Samba Anuj Kumar, Additional District Development Commissioner Samba Champa Devi and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

Impressive parade and cultural programme
The parade featured contingents from the Police, security forces, government departments and educational institutions. The participants presented a disciplined display reflecting unity, coordination and patriotic spirit.
A vibrant cultural programme was also presented by students, featuring patriotic themes and highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring spirit of Unity in Diversity.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan highlighted the key developmental achievements and milestones recorded by District Samba. She acknowledged the coordinated efforts of various departments in improving public service delivery, strengthening infrastructure, implementing welfare and development schemes and advancing the socio-economic development of the district.
Focus on youth and drug-free Samba
The Deputy Commissioner placed particular emphasis on the need to invest in the district’s youth and human capital.
Highlighting the ongoing Nasha Mukt campaign, she stressed that creating a drug-free society was essential for building a healthy, productive and progressive future.
She called for sustained and coordinated efforts involving government departments, educational institutions, parents, communities and civil society organisations to prevent substance abuse, strengthen awareness and protect young people from the harmful effects of drugs.
Sudan emphasised that youth empowerment, quality education, skill development, employment opportunities, healthy lifestyles and constructive engagement must remain key priorities.
She said the energy, talent and potential of the younger generation needed to be channelled towards productive activities and nation-building.

Outstanding contingents and participants were felicitated for their exemplary performance and active participation in the Independence Day celebrations.
The recognition acknowledged their discipline, dedication and contribution to the successful conduct of the district-level programme.
The celebrations reflected the collective spirit of Samba, with citizens, students, government officials and members of the administration coming together under the Tricolour to reaffirm their commitment to unity, integrity, peace, development and nation-building.
The programme concluded with the National Song followed by the National Anthem, marking the culmination of the Independence Day celebrations and a renewed resolve to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and contribute towards building a stronger, progressive, inclusive and drug-free society.
