My Youth My Pride Wushu and Kabaddi championship begins in Handwara

KUPWARA, JULY 28: The two-day My Youth My Pride Wushu and Kabaddi Championship commenced at the Indoor Stadium Handwara in Kupwara district on Tuesday, bringing together young sportspersons from across the region under the guidance of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
Organised under the guidance of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the championship has attracted 120 boys and girls from different areas of the district. The event aims to promote sports culture, discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
The championship was inaugurated by Showket, Incharge Baramulla, who attended as the Chief Guest, while Ajaz Hassan, Incharge Indoor Stadium Handwara, was the Guest of Honour.
Among those present were Farooq Ahmed, Incharge Kulangam, Kupwara, and Nahida Nabi, Khelo India Kabaddi Coach, who interacted with the participating athletes and encouraged them to perform with dedication and sportsmanship.
Officials said the participation of 120 players in the Wushu and Kabaddi competitions reflects the growing popularity of both sports in the region. They added that the championship provides an important platform for young athletes, particularly those from remote and border areas, to showcase their talent and gain valuable competitive experience at various levels.
The championship will conclude on July 29, with Wushu and Kabaddi competitions being held on both days.
