Red Ribbon Club, GCW Bhagwati Nagar celebrates International Youth Day

JAMMU, AUGUST 13: The Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Women (GCW), Bhagwati Nagar, celebrated International Youth Day by organizing a series of engaging and creative activities aimed at sensitizing and empowering students and encouraging them to express their ideas on issues related to health, well-being, social responsibility and youth participation.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Shalini Sharma.
International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, provides an opportunity to recognize the potential, creativity and contribution of young people to society and to highlight issues concerning youth participation in social, cultural, economic and community development.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Shalini Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Red Ribbon Club in engaging students in meaningful activities. She said that young people possess immense energy, creativity and potential and encouraged students to use these qualities constructively for the betterment of society.
She urged the students to make informed and healthy choices, remain socially responsible and actively participate in community development, emphasizing that youth are important partners in shaping society and the nation today.
The programme featured Poster Making, Rangoli Making and Essay Writing competitions, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students.
The Poster Making Competition provided students with a platform to express their thoughts through art and creativity. Participants prepared colourful and impactful posters highlighting themes such as HIV/AIDS awareness, healthy lifestyles, prevention of substance abuse, mental well-being, social responsibility, gender equality and youth empowerment.
The Rangoli Making Competition added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations, with students creating attractive designs based on themes including unity, hope, health, awareness, harmony and a better future. Through their artistic expressions, the participants conveyed messages of positivity, compassion and social harmony.
The Essay Writing Competition encouraged students to reflect critically on the role of youth in nation building and community development. Participants highlighted the importance of education, responsible citizenship, leadership, health awareness and social participation, while emphasizing the role of young people as agents of positive change.
The programme was organized by Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, Dr. Pavanjeet Bali. The competitions were adjudged by Dr. Anju Bala and Dr. Nusrat Koser.
The programme concluded with a message of youth empowerment, awareness and responsible citizenship.
