Kathua hosts district-level ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ competitions

KATHUA, AUGUST 1: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Kathua, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, on Saturday organised district-level competitions under the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” campaign in collaboration with Government Degree College (Women), Kathua.
The programme aimed to create awareness against drug abuse while encouraging young people to channelise their talent and creativity towards building a healthy, progressive and drug-free India.
Around 200 students from educational institutions across Kathua district participated in eight competitions, while nearly 290 students, faculty members and guests attended the event.
The competitions included dance, music, nukkad natak, painting, debate and elocution, short film and reel making, slam poetry and slogan writing.
Team B of Government Degree College (Women), Kathua emerged winners in the dance, music and nukkad natak competitions. Tamanna of Government Degree College (Women), Kathua won the painting competition, while Hetal Malhotra of Government Degree College (Boys), Kathua secured first place in debate and elocution.
Shivani Sharma won the short film and reel making competition, Abhishek of Government Degree College (Boys), Kathua topped the slam poetry category, and Kashish Bharti won the slogan writing competition. The winners will represent Kathua district at the state-level competitions.
Principal of Government Degree College (Women), Kathua, Dr Jaipal Singh, who was the chief guest, highlighted the significance of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” campaign and urged youth to stay away from substance abuse and adopt a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.
He encouraged students to devote their energy to sports, education, knowledge, patriotism and excellence, saying these values contribute to both individual development and nation-building. He also appreciated MY Bharat Kathua for providing a meaningful platform for young people to showcase their creativity while spreading awareness against drug abuse.
Deputy Director, MY Bharat Kathua, Jigmat Spaldon thanked the Principal, faculty members, organising committee, judges, volunteers and participants for their support in the successful conduct of the programme and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and Viksit Bharat through similar awareness initiatives.
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates among the winners and participants.
