Div Com, IGP Jammu review arrangements for Independence Day 2026 celebrations

JAMMU, JULY 28: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting of senior officers to review arrangements for the Independence Day 2026 celebrations at the Meeting Hall of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting was attended by the DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police from across the Jammu division, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Managing Director JPDCL, Director School Education Jammu, SSP Traffic and officers from the Health, Public Works, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, Information, Transport and other concerned departments. Several officers participated through virtual mode.
A detailed review was conducted on security arrangements, traffic management, parade preparations, cultural programmes, stage setup, lighting, drinking water supply, medical facilities, sanitation and other essential arrangements at the main venue and district headquarters to ensure that the national festival is celebrated in a grand, well-organised and befitting manner.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all departments to complete their assigned responsibilities well in advance and maintain close inter-departmental coordination. He stressed that the safety and convenience of the public should remain the top priority during the celebrations. He also emphasised punctuality, discipline and adherence to protocol during the events at M.A. Stadium, Jammu, and other venues across the division.
Reviewing the security arrangements, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti said foolproof security measures would be put in place at the main venue and surrounding areas. He added that a comprehensive traffic management plan would be implemented to ensure smooth vehicular movement and hassle-free access for the public, invitees and participants on the day of the celebrations.
The Divisional Commissioner directed senior officers of the Education and Information Departments to coordinate the participation of school children, NCC, NSS and cultural groups. He also instructed them to ensure wide publicity of the programme schedule and adequate media coverage of the celebrations.
Deputy Commissioners were asked to convene district-level meetings and finalise all arrangements within the stipulated timeframe. The Divisional Commissioner further directed that attendance at the Independence Day celebrations would be compulsory for all government employees.
The JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Health and Fire & Emergency Services Departments were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, deployment of medical teams and adequate fire safety arrangements at both the rehearsal venues and the main function venue.
