GDC Ramkote holds quiz, essay writing competitions

KATHUA, AUGUST 7: Government Degree College (GDC) Ramkote organised an intra-college quiz competition on the theme “Indian Freedom Struggle and National Heroes” and an essay writing competition on “Role of Education in Promoting Peace and Unity” as part of the ongoing Independence Day celebrations.
The events were organised by the NSS Unit of the college under the overall supervision of Principal Rakesh Kumar Koul.
Students from BA Semester I and Semester III participated enthusiastically, showcasing their knowledge of India’s freedom movement, national values and contemporary social issues.
The quiz competition, conducted in a multiple-choice question (MCQ) format, assessed participants’ understanding of the Indian freedom struggle and the contributions of national heroes to nation-building. Naresh Singh of Semester I secured the first position, while Tanu Devi and Mamta Devi, both from Semester III, jointly bagged the second position. Bhawani Gupta of Semester III finished third.
The essay writing competition encouraged students to share their views on the role of education in promoting peace, harmony, tolerance and national integration. Participants highlighted the importance of education in building an inclusive, progressive and united society.
In the essay writing competition, Tanu Devi of Semester III secured the first position, while Bandana Devi, also from Semester III, bagged the second position.
The competitions were judged by Pankaj Nandan and Suresh Chander, who appreciated the participants for their knowledge, creativity and clarity of expression. The winners were felicitated with prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.
