IGNOU admissions for July 2026 session to close on July 31

JAMMU, JULY 30: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced that admissions and re-registration for the July 2026 academic session will close on July 31, 2026, with the Regional Centre Jammu urging eligible learners to complete the process before the deadline.
According to the Regional Centre, the admission deadline had earlier been extended with the approval of the Vice Chancellor in view of the disruption caused by the ongoing monsoon, which affected roads, communication infrastructure and internet connectivity, preventing many students from completing their admission and re-registration formalities online.
The Regional Centre stated that no further extension has been announced and both fresh admissions and re-registration for the July 2026 session will now conclude on July 31.
Students seeking admission or re-registration have been advised to register on the respective online portals using their own mobile number and email ID to receive admission confirmation and other important updates from the University. IGNOU has also cautioned learners against using someone else’s contact details to avoid the risk of cyber fraud in future.
Learners facing issues such as non-receipt of OTP, forgotten username or password, or any other registration-related difficulty have been asked to contact the Regional Centre Jammu for assistance in resetting their accounts or updating their registered email ID or mobile number.
For fresh admissions, candidates are required to create a User ID and password on the SAMARTH portal and keep ready their mobile number, email ID, scanned academic documents, recent photograph and online payment facility through debit card, credit card or net banking before submitting the application.
Appealing to eligible learners, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu, Dr. Asha Upadhyay, said, “The desirous candidates who wish to seek fresh admission or re-register themselves for the next year or semester can avail this opportunity of the extended date and apply for any programme of their choice before admissions close.”
She also advised students to use their own email ID and mobile number while applying to ensure secure communication and prevent cyber fraud.
