Awareness session on POSH Act held in Jammu

JAMMU, AUGUST 1: An awareness session on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) was organised at the District Headquarters, Jammu, on Friday to sensitise government officials about the provisions of the law and the mechanisms available for redressal of complaints.
The session was chaired by Additional District Magistrate Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, who said the Act provides safeguards against sexual harassment of women at workplaces, including women visiting offices to avail public services. She urged women employees in both the government and private sectors to perform their duties with confidence, knowing that the law ensures their safety and protection.
Highlighting the grievance redressal mechanism, the ADM informed the participants that complaints can be lodged through the SHe-Box online portal or the Mission Shakti mobile application. She said Internal Committees have been constituted in all offices to address complaints in a transparent and fair manner, ensuring justice for all concerned irrespective of gender.
As part of the awareness campaign, posters promoting the SHe-Box portal were displayed prominently at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, to educate visitors about the online complaint facility.
Advocate Dr Ifra Nasir delivered a detailed presentation on the key provisions of the POSH Act and the rights and legal protections available to women under the legislation.
Among those present were District Social Welfare Officer Preeti Sharma, Assistant Commissioner (General) Sania Haq Khan, District Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Shagun Manchanda and other officials.
